Zack arches his right eyebrow and asks, “Naya, do you
want red or white wine or champagne to celebrate your
birthday?”
Smiling at him, I reply, “Champagne sounds great!”
“Naya, wake up, girl!” Damn, of course, I’m dreaming!
My cousin, Jay, yells while he’s shaking my shoulders,
trying to wake me from my pretty damn delightful dream.
Dream OVER! “NAYA! That’s it!” I keep my eyes
closed, and I’m trying my best to go back to sleep.
Suddenly, the pillow’s snatched from under my head!
“Damn, leave me alone. I’m sleeping, boy!” I growl out,
while my eyes are closed tight, trying to get back to my
dreamland.
I turn from my stomach to my side, and the next thing I
know, he picks me up! I’m all wrapped up in my sheets
and fluffy comforter, and he throws me over his left
shoulder like a sack of freaking potatoes! He's really
taking this crap too damn far. My hair is hanging over my
forehead, swinging back and forth on his lower back. I’m
6 ft tall; therefore, I have a very long body. I got off work
at two in the morning, closing the kitchen where I’m a
Sous Chef in a world-renowned restaurant, so I think I
deserve to be tired.
“Jay, come on, what the hell, boy? Just put me back on
the bed; I just need 1 more hour of sleep. What. The. Hell?
It’s still dark outside!” He replies, walking toward the
living room. “No, we have to talk about your friend
now!”
I’m stumped since we don’t travel in the same friend
circle. We’re in the living room, and he throws me lightly
on the sofa. Half sitting on one of the many oversized
shaggy pillows, I lift a little and move the rose-pink colored one and place it next to the light blue one.
Jay’s pacing back and forth, looking very irate. He’s 6ft 5
inches, in great shape (which happened over the summer),
curly, black hair, a handsome face with dimples when he
laughs from what my friends say, he’s a knockout. I know
something has really ticked him off, but one of my girls?
