Capricorn Clark

Ms. Steiner on Direct Examination

Ms. Clark graduated from high school and got an internship at Def Jam Records. Both of her parents died shortly after. After college she signed with Death Row Records. Suge Knight is the father of her best friend’s children.

Ms. Clark met Sean Combs in 2001 or 2002 through a mutual friend.

Ms. Clark worked as his personal assistant from 2004 to 2006, as the marketing director for Sean John Women’s,2006 to 2007, and then global brand director from 2007 to 2012. Clark was Ventura’s creative director from 2011 to 2018.

As a personal assistant Ms. Clark worked from 9am to 4am, daily, with no breaks. Most days she only slept for four hours. Ms. Clark developed alopecia, which is a stress-induced condition, where you get bald patches on your head. Salary was $65,000 a year and no overtime. Vashta Dunlap, Head of Human Resources met with Mr. Combs and Ms. Clark.  Ms. Dunlap calculated Ms. Clark’s overtime per three-month period, and she was owed $80,000 for each period in her assistant era. Mr. Combs ripped up the paper and Ms. Clark wasn’t paid the overtime.

Ms. Clark said she and Sean Combs were “super platonic friends.” Ms. Clark testified that on her very first day working with Mr. Combs, she was taken to Central Park after nine at night. Ms. Clark alleges that Mr. Combs told her that “he didn’t know she had anything to do with Suge Knight. And if anything happened he would have to kill her.”

When some high end jewelry went missing she was brought to an abandoned building. Paulie, Mr. Combs' head of security, locked her in a room with a man who gave her a lie detector test for five days straight for hours until Paulie came to bring her home each day. The man told her “if you don't pass the test, they're going to throw you in the east river.”

Ms. Clark  alleged that Mr. Combs came to her apartment, between 5am and 6am, banging on her door, furious, and he allegedly had a gun. He forced Ms. Clark to come with him to Kid Cudi’s house saying “Get dressed, we’re going to go kill this n***a,” Clark testified Combs told her.

She corroborated Cassie’s and Kid Cudi’s account about Mr. Combs breaking into Kid Cudi’s house.

Clark also described traveling with Combs to MTV and in the elevator and overhearing him tell Chris Lighty that he didn't like nonsense and people, but he did “like guns.” Clark said, claiming Combs "had an issue with 50 Cent.”

Ms. Clark also told the jury she witnessed Cassie being physically assaulted by Mr.Combs more than once. The worst was from the Kid Cudi situation. After she called D-Rock and Paulie trying to get them to help stop Mr. Combs.

Mr. Combs told her to get out. She called Mrs Ventura, telling her Mr. Combs was beating the crap out of her daughter, and to please help her, to call the police. Ms. Clark told her she was in over her head. She had to walk home.

Ms. Clark also prepared the hotel rooms for freak-offs as the earlier personal assistants did.

Defense Cross-Examination

While Clark was on the stand under cross-examination, Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo asked her to confirm that she told defense attorneys at a meeting in April 2024 that Combs “wouldn’t be in this mess if he had kept (her) around” in discussions about her returning to work for him.

Ms. Clark told the jury that Cassie and Mr. Combs were toxic for each other as a couple. Mr. Agnifilo insinuated that Ms. Clark had liked Mr. Combs as more than a friend. She denied that adamantly, and was shown text messages. She still didn’t remember.

Ms. Clark agreed that Mr. Combs had started doing more drugs when she started working for him than he was when they were friends in 2001 or 2002.

Celeberty Stylist Deonte Nash Testifies

ree

Deonte Nash, a celebrity stylist, testified that on multiple occasions he saw Combs assault Ventura and heard him threaten to withhold her music or release sex tapes of her. Mr. Nash also testified that Ventura told him that she had sex with other men while Combs watched even though she didn’t want to, though she never explicitly explained the term “Freak Off” to him. Mr. Nash, who worked for Combs’ company for years, also testified about times when Combs was violent toward him. Mr. Combs threw him on top of a car. Mr. Nash told the jury that he tried to stop Mr. Combs from hitting Cassie.

Cross-Examination

The defense noted that Mr. Nash was only in court due to being subpoenaed. Mr. Nash told the jury he only had an attorney for this federal trial for his own protection. He does not have an Attorney for a civil case against Mr. Combs. Mr. Nash didn’t change any of his prior testimony.

Former Personal Assistant to Sean “Diddy” Combs Testifies at Federal Sex Trafficking and Racketeering Trail

Week 3, May 29

Mia
Mia

Mia held two positions with Combs, one as a personal assistant in 2009, and the other as director of development and acquisitions for Revolt Films in 2013. Mia testified that working for Combs had been chaotic and toxic. He was violent to Mia. Mia claims that Mr. Combs had thrown things at her. Thrown her into a pool, threw an ice bucket on her head. He slammed her arm into a door, and he also sexually assaulted her more than once. Mia always wanted to work in film or tv.

Prior to working for Mr. Combs, she worked for Georgina Chapman, the owner and designer of Marchess. Mia’s next job was personal assistant for the comedian Mike Meyers. In 2009, Mia started working for Mr. Combs until 2017. When she was interviewed, Mr. Combs opened the door on his phone, and was wearing his underwear.

When Mia worked for Mike Meyers she worked from 10am to 6pm Monday thru Friday. Sometimes on Saturday for a few hours. Mia thought she would be working a few hours more, plus rotating weekends as a personal assistant to Mr. Combs. Her base salary was supposed to be $55,000, but it turned out to be $50,000.

Mia was told she was expected to work forty hours weekly. After forty hours she was to be paid overtime. There were many people vying for the position, so there was a two week trial. If she could handle it the job would be hers. Mia worked almost twenty-four hours her first day of the personal assistant trial.

The longest time Mia went without sleep working for Mr. Combs was five days. Working for Mr. Combs was tumultuous and she was always running around doing what had to be done. Her ADHD medication helped her to stay awake.

Mia basically physically broke down, had loss of hearing, it felt like she was underwater. Her equilibrium was off, blurred vision and seeing lights that weren’t there. She started crying hysterically and Mr. Combs told her she could go to sleep.

Mia had to crack Mr. Combs' knuckles. She had to ask permission to leave Mr. Combs home when she had to stay there. Even if he was asleep she couldn’t leave or lock the bedroom door. Mr. Combs allegedly said, “this is my house no one is allowed to lock my doors.” Security could lock their bedroom doors.

In 2013, after working on film projects for about 3 years, Mr. Combs finally officially gave Mia the title of director of film development and acquisitions. The base salary was $70,000 and within three years it increased to $100,000, but she was still performing personal assistant duties, as well. Mia did not receive the bonuses she was promised per project.

Mia didn’t stop working from Mr. Combs home until the end of 2016.

Mia and Cassie became best friends, like sisters. Mia alleged Mr. Combs and Cassie’s relationship was a cycle of highs and lows, unequal, toxic, and abusive towards Cassie.

Mia was around the couple a lot. Mr. Combs controlled everything with Cassie’s career. Mia told the jury that Mr. Combs was in charge of all Cassie’s possessions, everything was in the company’s name. Mia saw when he would take her cars, jewelry, and support when he couldn’t get her on the phone or was angry.

Mia had to do everything Mr. Combs told her to. Cassie and her would be punished if they did something Mr. Combs did approve of them doing. It was terrifying.

May 30 Mia Testimony Continued

Mia testified that she witnessed Mr. Combs on several occasions attacked Cassie, throwing her on the ground, cracking her head open, and seeing him chase her.

2013 early in the evening Deonte, Cassie, and her were at Cassie’s house. Mr. Combs came into the apartment yelling at Cassie. He came after Cassie and threw her on the ground. Both Deonte and Mia tried to stop him, he had Deonte positioned in a way that Mia was scared that Mr. Combs would kill him. She jumped onto Mr. Combs' back. He threw her off him against the wall.

It happened really fast she was sliding down the wall. She knew they were in danger. She wasn’t able to get there fast enough to reach Cassie. She watched Mr. Combs as he ran into the bedroom. He grabbed Cassie, picked her up, and slammed her head into the sharpest corner of the bottom of the platform bed. Blood gushed from Cassie’s head, a big scar on her forehead.

Mia said “Mr. Combs snapped into this protector survivor mode. Get Kala, the assistant at this time, she had a relationship with the doctors. Get Kala on the phone and tell her to call Dr. so and so and tell him that Cassie needs to see him immediately because she was drunk and fell and hit her head.” Mia did what Mr. Combs told her.

She was allowed to visit Cassie at hotels when she had injuries that were bad. Cassie would be forced to stay in the hotel with Mr. Combs security until she healed. She even helped with giving the medicines to help with the bruises.

On Combs' fortieth birthday Mia claimed he gave her 2 shots and he tried to kiss her. The next thing she remembered it was morning. She knew from how her body felt that she had sex. Mr. Combs didn’t mention it, neither did she.

Another sexual assault happened at Mr. Combs home in the room she was sleeping in. There were bunk beds, and she slept on the bottom. She woke up feeling weight on her body. She opened her eyes and it was Mr. Combs lying on top of her. He sexually assaulted her, and it was over fast.

There were other times he sexually assaulted her.

Cross Examination by Brian Steele

Mr. Steele conveyed that what Mia testified to during direct examination didn’t happen. He used many of her Instagram posts from her personal account where she praised Sean “Diddy” Combs. Pictures of her leaning into Mr. Combs, when she said he traumatized her. Mia said it was a public account and it was part of her job. According to Mia, Mr. Combs was checking her accounts. Mr. Steele was a bit intimidating to Mia. She didn’t do well, and she said Diddy’s fans were following her, so she had to post those pics of Mr. Combs.

Mia wrote, “Sean “Diddy” Combs was her inspiration, her mentor, her brother, and she loved him for life.” It was a family love, and she didn’t want anyone to know what he had done to her. There were many posts like that, and she even still was posting after she left.

She was confused with his questions. It may have been a strategy on Mr. Steele’s end. She talked about what a SA victim advocate could explain about her better.

Mr. Mia to explain why she still worked there from 2009 until 2017. Why she treated the man who terrorized her the way she did?

“In an abusive relationship there’s a cycle of violence,” Mia said. “I was young and manipulated and eager to survive." Mia told Mr. Steele that he can ask her therapist or SA Victim Advocates.

After the defense was done Mia lost credibility with the Jury.
